Patrick O’Connor |
Patrick O’Connor is a practicing family physician and Senior Clinical Investigator since 1993 at HealthPartners Research Foundation. His career goal is to improve care and clinical outcomes for adults with diabetes, hypertension, heart problems, depression, or other chronic diseases. He has published over 120 research articles and coauthored clinical guidelines on treatment of diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders and obesity. His clinical monographs on diabetes care written for the American Academy of Family Physicians have sold over 60,000 copies and been translated into Spanish and Japanese.
Dr. O’Connor received his undergraduate degree summa cum laude form Boston College with a double major in Chemistry and Theology, and his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University where hew was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed an MPH in Epidemiology and Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, completed his residency at Duke University Medical Center and developed a keen interest in diabetes and related conditions while practicing with the Navajo Area Indian Health Service at Tuba City, Arizona.
